What was the first comic you read?

Harvey Comics Casper Digests, which are also widely distributed in Comics Hell.

What inspired you to make comics? A specific story? Writer? Author?

In University, I was making comics and also writing words, but separately. Later, I read “Akira,” then “Watchmen,” which is a very embarrassingly obvious way to get into comics; after that, I started listening to Robin McConnell on “Inkstuds,” which every comic artist probably should, and eventually I ended up where I am now.

You are stranded on a desert island, you must have:

Which 3 comics? Takehiko Inoue’s “Vagabond,” Q Hayashida’s “Dorohedoro,” and Hitoshi Tomizawa’s “Milk Closet;” their numerous volumes will thatch my new island home.

Which 3 albums? Trust Fund’s “No One is Coming For Us,” Twin Shadow’s “Confess,” and Ben Bridwell’s “Sing Into My Mouth;” their limited edition vinyl covers will be shredded into fibers for clothing.

Which 3 movies? “Tekkonkinkreet,” “The Shining,” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox;” Their sharp edges will be ideal for hunting and fishing.

Which 3 foods? Nuts and seeds. I must begin to adjust to this new life immediately. The outside world is behind me.

Which 3 television shows? The feeling of the cool waves against my skin, and “Kemonozume” if they ever translate it.

And which 3 people would you be happy to be stranded with? Three seasoned Green Berets whose grit and resolve will finally free me from this island prison.
